curioushumans.world is a place to ask questions and wonder along with other people. We collect as little as we can, and we never sell your data.
It’s a solo project, made and run by one person, who is responsible for your data here. You can reach me at kapankayasevval@gmail.com.
What we store
- What you post — your questions and replies, when you posted them, and who they were asked to.
- A rough place — the city your internet connection comes from (never your street), shown next to what you post. If you choose “my neighbors”, we keep only a ~5 km² area, never your exact position.
- An anonymous id — a random code in your browser so you can post without an account. It’s never shown to anyone.
- If you make an account — your @name, and the email, Google or Apple account you signed in with (handled by Google Firebase). Others only ever see your @name.
- Touch-grass stories — the photo and words you share, the city you were in, your @name and how your curious human looks. Stories are shown for 24 hours and then deleted, photo and all, within a day.
- Your curious human — how you styled your character, on your account so it follows you to other devices.
- If you turn on notifications — a browser push address (in the iPhone and iPad app, a device token), so we can send you a question.
What we don’t do
No ads, no selling or sharing your data, no tracking cookies. We use one cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser’s storage to remember your settings.
Who helps us run it
Vercel hosts the site. Google Firebase stores the data and story photos (in Europe) and handles sign-in. Google Cloud Vision checks each story photo for unsafe content before it’s shown; it doesn’t keep the photo. They process data only to run the service for us.
We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you: we see totals like how many people visited and which pages, never who.
We also use Databuddy, a cookie-free analytics service, to see how the site performs and which features get used (for example, that a question was posted). It doesn’t identify you either: no names, emails or account details are sent to it.
Your choices
- Post anonymously — you never need an account.
- Turn notifications off any time from the bell.
- Delete your account and everything you posted, any time, from Settings.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete any of your data: write to kapankayasevval@gmail.com. We’ll answer within 30 days.
You must be 16 or older to post. If you’re in the EU, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
